As part of the “Cultural Routes of Europe Exhibition in China - An Encounter on a Journey across Time and Space” currently being organised by the Delegation of the European Union to China, a live painting performance by renowned Spanish artist Alberto Reguera will take place on Wednesday 15th January at 11 am, at the Delegation of the European Union in Beijing.
The Cultural Routes of Europe Exhibition was launched in Changchun in August 2019 in the context of increasing EU-China connectivity and following the successful EU-China Tourism Year in 2018. The exhibition aims at promoting cross-cultural dialogue between China and the European Union, through presenting to the audience 38 European cultural routes following the themes of history, culture, economy and trade. It will be held in two other cities in China, including Beijing, this year.
To materialize in an aesthetic experience the title of the exhibition “An Encounter on a Journey across Time and Space”, the Spanish painter Alberto Reguera will perform and create an expansive painting that symbolizes open roads in movement, breaking borders, as well as the expansion of horizons that are in the mind of the collective unconscious of the travellers who journey along these European cultural routes.
Starting from one of his three-dimensional abstract landscapes, the artist intends, while expanding the brushstrokes on a large wall, to erase the dividing line between painting and sculpture. A symbolic representation that wants to go beyond borders, intertwining different chromatic paths in a universe that evokes the inner journey and the outer journey at the same time.
