EU and Indonesia launch bilateral trade talks
Indonesian Trade Minister Thomas Lembong and EU Ambassador to Indonesia Vincent Guérend held a joint press conference in Jakarta on 18 July 2016 to announce the launch of the negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
“This negotiations will be ambitious and I am very glad today to underline again that on both sides we aim at a very ambitious agreement. This agreement should cover not only goods but also services,” said Ambassador Guérend. “And it should also tackle custom duties and other barriers to trade, investment, access to public procurement, competition rules, protection of intellectual property rights and so on. The list is long. It would be something very comprehensive, hence its name,” he added.
