2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the European Research Council (ERC). Back in 2007, the European Commission established the European Research Council (ERC), with the mission to encourage excellent frontier research in Europe through competitive funding, supporting top researchers across all fields and of any nationality.

To date, the ERC has funded almost 7,000 researchers and this number includes 23 Principal Investigators from China according to the latest statistics available. Based on the Implementing Arrangement between the European Research Council and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the NSFC has published a call for applications to support top Chinese researchers in joining ERC-granted teams for collaborative research of up to twelve months in Europe. The collaboration scheme has closely linked the EU-China resources and efforts in strengthening mobility of researchers and exploration of frontier sciences.

ERC's anniversary is an occasion for celebrations as well as for reflections on the past decade and on the future. A celebration seminar will be jointly organised by the EURAXESS Links China and the EU Delegation to China on 13 March 2017 at the Premises of the EU Delegation to China (Galileo Room, No. 15 Dong Zhi Men Wai Da Jie) as part of the series of the ERC Celebration Activities in Europe and beyond.

We look forward to having you with us celebrating the ERC's anniversary!
