2025 European Culture Street to Open in Chengdu: A Celebration of “All Imaginable Ways of Dialogue”

The 2025 European Culture Street will open in Chengdu’s Dongjiao Memory district on April 12, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the EU’s cultural diversity, under the theme “All Imaginable Ways of Dialogue.”

As guest of honour of the Chengdu-European Culture Season 2025, the European Union (EU) has partnered with Chengdu city authorities to co-launch this annual festival in tandem with the opening of the European Culture Street. As the EU and China mark 50 years of diplomatic relations, the European Culture Street offers an opportunity to foster cultural exchanges and mutual understanding through cultural traditions, arts, music, food, and interactive experiences.

The opening ceremony, starting at 11:00, will be hosted by the H.E. Ambassador of the European Union to China Mr. Jorge Toledo and representatives from Chengdu Municipal Government. Ambassadors, Consuls-General and other diplomats of the EU Member States in China will also attend the event. The European Culture Street is proud to collaborate with esteemed partners including Sichuan University, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, and the local NGOs working with people with disabilities.

The European Culture Street will feature:

  • Cultural exhibits: booths showcasing EU Member States’ unique traditions, innovations, and cultural heritage of Europe.
  • Live performances: attendees can enjoy a variety of performances, including dances and contemporary music from across Europe.
  • Culinary experiences: the event will also highlight European cuisine, offering visitors the chance to sample authentic dishes.
  • Dialogue initiatives: engage with European culture diversity through innovative AI photography of iconic landmarks and participatory games designed to foster cultural exchange.

The European Culture Street is designed to be accessible to all—welcoming visitors of every age, physical ability, and professional background. The event will offer accessible activities, sign language interpretations, and sensorial games to families with children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Committed to sustainability, the event features eco-friendly practices like waste sorting, reusable tableware, and carbon-neutral initiatives.

The event will open to visitors at 11:00 am. More information about this event is available on the website of the EU Delegation to China
