EU and Chile launch the negotiations for a modernised Association Agreement


A first round of negotiations between the EU and Chile for a modernised Association Agreement will take place on 16 November, in Brussels. This follows the decision taken today by EU Member States to approve the mandate for the European Union to conduct these negotiations.


In 2018, the European Union Delegation in Chile has the possibility to offer an unpaid six-month internship in the Political, Press and Information Section, in our offices in Santiago.

On the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the EU speaks out for freedom of speech and calls for international obligations to protect journalists and investigate abuses to be upheld by State authorities, within and outside the EU.

On the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the European Union commends the work of journalists in uncovering abuses of power, shining a light on corruption and human right violations, and questioning received opinion, often putting themselves at risk of intimidation, violence and death. An independent and free media is the basis of a participatory and pluralist democracy, and a tool to make governments accountable for their actions.

La resistencia a los antibióticos se ha convertido en una amenaza real para la salud mundial. Muchas infecciones comunes se están volviendo resistentes a los medicamentos antimicrobianos utilizados para su tratamiento, generando enfermedades y muertes. Se espera que en 2050 –sólo en 33 años– unas 10 millones de personas mueran anualmente por resistencia a los antimicrobianos.
