Akriila and the European Union collaborate to give voice to Chile’s clean energy future in new track “The Power”

The European Union (EU) has launched the I’ve Got the Power campaign in Chile, in partnership with Chilean music artist Akriila. The campaign highlights EU-backed clean energy projects in Chile and their impact on communities, promoting access to reliable, renewable energy as a key part of the Chile-EU partnership.
Akriila’s track, The Power, is the anthem of the campaign, highlighting the potential of clean energy to improve people’s lives and inspiring them to adopt this positive change. Akriila says, "Sustainable energy isn’t just about technology – it’s about people. I’m proud to collaborate with the European Union and to be part of this innovative campaign that connects sustainability, music, and empowerment for a better future for Chile.”
The EU’s Global Gateway investment strategy represents the backbone of the campaign, exemplified by projects like for example the Team Europe Renewable Hydrogen Funding Platform, committing up to €216.5 million to support Chile's green hydrogen industry. This initiative aims to help Chile achieve its goal of 100% clean energy by 2050.
Claudia Gintersdorfer, European Union Ambassador to Chile says: “The transition to renewable energy is not just about reducing carbon emissions; it’s about creating a more sustainable future for the people, the planet and local economies in Chile. Through this campaign, we want to celebrate people who are already embracing the sustainable energy and so inspire others.”

Global Gateway
This partnership empowers individuals, like Il Tonino, who benefits from renewable energy by using it to power his e-bike, allowing him to move efficiently around Santiago and teach up to five cycling lessons a day without relying on a car. This shift to electro-mobility not only reduces his environmental impact but also promotes a healthier lifestyle by encouraging more people to take up cycling. Another example is Claudia, a photographer, who harnesses renewable energy to power her photography equipment and studio, enabling her to maintain her vibrant, high-energy style with minimal environmental impact. Their stories illustrate how the Global Gateway strategy has a direct positive impact on individuals and small businesses.

About the Global Gateway strategy
Global Gateway is the EU's positive offer to reduce the worldwide investment disparity and boost smart, clean and secure connections in digital, energy and transport sectors, and to strengthen health, education and research systems. The Global Gateway strategy embodies a Team Europe approach that brings together the European Union, EU Member States, and European development finance institutions. Together, they aim to mobilise up to €300 billion in public and private investments from 2021 to 2027, creating essential links rather than dependencies, and closing the global investment gap.
About the EU-Chile Cooperation
Since the early 1990s, the European Union and Chile have built a strong and evolving partnership grounded in shared values of sustainable development, environmental protection, and economic cooperation. Today, their collaboration is increasingly focused on renewable energy, positioning Chile as a key player in the global green transition. With its vast potential for solar, wind, and green hydrogen, Chile is an ideal partner for EU-supported initiatives that aim to reduce carbon emissions and promote clean energy.
Key EU-funded projects in Chile include:
- Atacama Desert solar projects: The EU has supported large-scale solar installations in the Atacama Desert, leveraging its high solar irradiance to produce clean electricity.
- Patagonian wind energy expansion: EU-backed investments are aiding the development of wind farms in southern Chile, enhancing energy supply and creating green jobs.
- Green Hydrogen Development: The EU and Chile launched the Team Europe Renewable Hydrogen Funding Platform, committing up to €216.5 million to support Chile's green hydrogen industry. This initiative aims to help Chile achieve its goal of 100% clean energy by 2050.
These projects not only assist Chile in meeting its climate objectives but also strengthen EU-Latin America ties in building a resilient, low-carbon future.
