Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Chile ?

The delegation of Chile is one of the first delegations in Latin America which, for more than 50 years Europeans and Chilean shared a broad range of values and interests in the regional and multilateral fora including peace, democracy, sustainable development and human rights. Also, since 2002 relations between Europe and Chile became tighter with the signature of the Association agreement which is now being renegotiated to make it once again an exemplary Agreement.

What we offer?

A traineeship of 6 months within the Press and InformationSection of the EU Delegation to Chile, starting in November 2019.

Main tasks:

  • Participate to events organized by the EU delegation (seminars, conferences, workshop) and collect information in order to draft reports
  • Draft reports on the domestic, regional and foreign policy of Chile and the impact on the EU, including economic and trade related issues
  • Organize, attend meetings and take minutes. Provide support for the events organized by the Delegation
  • Participate in the communication strategy of the delegation (Facebook, Twitter, webpage, …)
  • Respond to specific requests from colleagues (translation, search for information, welcome guests ...)
  • Follow issues of interest to the EU in its internal and external policies

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Excellent command of English (minimum C1);
  • Very good command of Spanish (minimum B2)
  • Bachelor in political science or economy
  • Capacity to work in a multicultural team, showing good interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills;
  • Methodical, rigorous and autonomous mind-set;
  • Ability to prioritise and carry out tasks flawlessly, even when working under pressure, and to respond quickly to new demands;

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
