The European Union Film Festival season officially opened on 15 November with the screening of Austrian award-winning film "Mademoiselle Paradis" at the newly-built Ottawa Art Gallery. This year’s edition features 27 films, 27 unique stories from 27 European Union Member States and appeals to every cinematic taste through a wide collection of award-winning films – everything from drama and comedy to tragedy, romance and adventure, a roller-coaster of emotions.

Today we stand united in our determination to protect and to promote the rights of all children everywhere. These rights are universal, indivisible and inalienable. Every single child has the right to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment – free from any form of violence, abuse, harassment or neglect. It is our collective task to do everything we can to ensure that these rights are respected and ensured for every child, everywhere.

The European Union Film Festival is back in Ottawa for another year, bringing with it a tour of cinematic treasures from all corners of the EU. The Canadian Film Institute (CFI), in concert with the European Union Delegation to Canada, the Embassies of EU Member States, and the Ottawa Art Gallery are proud to announce that the 33rd installment of the EUFF will launch on Friday November 16 and run through Friday December 2.
