G7 Energy and Environment

On October 30–31, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, and EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, took part in the G7 Energy and Environment Ministers’ Meeting held in Toronto.

Commissioner Jørgensen engaged with G7 energy ministers on critical raw materials, supply chain resilience, and the enabling role of artificial intelligence in accelerating the clean energy transition. Together with Canadian Minister Timothy Hodgson, he reaffirmed the EU and Canada’s commitment to implementing the EU–Canada Strategic Partnership of the Future, with a strong focus on sustainable energy supply chains and critical transition minerals.

Commissioner Roswall worked with her G7 counterparts to advance global leadership on environmental and climate priorities, including extreme weather prediction and preparedness, circular economy and resource efficiency, and action to address the global water crisis. She also held bilateral meetings with Canadian Minister Julie Dabrusin.

The G7 discussions reaffirmed the EU’s and Canada’s shared commitment to driving collective action for a greener, more resilient, and secure world.
