The European Union Short Film Festival makes its Montréal début

After twelve acclaimed editions in Ottawa, the European Union Short Film Festival is coming to Montréal for the very first time. From May 28 to 31, 2025, the Cinéma du Musée will host 26 films from 19 EU Member States, showcasing the diversity, creativity and excellence of European cinema.

After twelve successful editions in Ottawa, the Delegation of the European Union to Canada, Vision Méditerranéenne and participating EU Member States are pleased to invite you to the inaugural Montréal edition of the European Union Short Film Festival, taking place at the Cinéma du Musée from May 28 to 31.

The programme features four days of screenings, 19 participating countries, and 26 short films ranging from animation to documentary to fiction. This first Montréal edition is driven by a rich variety of genres and styles, reflecting the vitality and excellence of European cinema.

The Festival aims to serve as a cultural bridge between Canada and the European Union and as a space for reflection on today’s social and cultural issues. The year 2025 also marks the 130th anniversary of the first film screening by the Lumière brothers, an ideal moment to come together in celebration of the art of short film.

We look forward to welcoming you to Cinéma du Musée,
