Commissioner Jørgensen in Montréal: advancing the EU–Canada energy partnership

On 29 June, the EU Delegation to Canada supported a mission by European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen to Montréal to participate in the 11th International Energy Agency (IEA) Global Conference on Energy Efficiency.

During his visit, Commissioner Jørgensen co-chaired an EU–Canada Energy Security Business Roundtable with Canada’s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Timothy Hodgson. The Roundtable brought together EU Ministers, Canadian provincial governments, as well as European and Canadian companies to drive forward cooperation on electrification, clean energy technologies and liquefied natural gas.

Commissioner Jørgensen also met with other government representatives to discuss cooperation on energy security, the clean energy transition, and climate action, including Julie Dabrusin, Canada’s Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Nature, as well as Pascale Déry, Minister of the Environment of Quebec.

The conference and related meetings reaffirmed the importance of the EU–Canada energy partnership and identified concrete opportunities to further strengthen transatlantic business cooperation on energy.
