The visit, which started with a presentation of the "Plan Nord" project by M. Robert Sauvé, CEO of the "Société du Plan Nord", allowed participants to visit the Robert Bourassa hydro-electric installations in La Rivière, as well as the Raglan mine in Nunavik.
During the visit, the participants were also able to meet with representatives of the Cree First Nation in Chisasibi, and Inuits in Nunavik. These meetings allowed them to better understand the challenges and opportunities brought by the "Plan Nord" developments for these remote communities.
Throughout the visit, a particular emphasis was put on balance between economic development, social inclusion, and care for the environment. With more than 47% renewable energy, Quebec is a world leader in clean energy production. The energy policy of the Province is very similar to the European Union's, both regarding environment protection and climate change.
