21 September 2020 marks the third anniversary of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) that links the European Union and Canada. CETA is a wide-ranging agreement that reduces tariffs and makes it easier to export goods and services, benefiting people and businesses in both the EU and Canada. It also offers numerous opportunities such as government procurement.

On 22 September, the European Chamber of Commerce in Canada (EUCCAN) will moderate a panel discussion to review the implementation of the agreement. The Hon. Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, will provide opening comments. Dr. Christian Burgsmüller, Chargé d’affaires of the EU Delegation to Canada, and Christopher Cooter, Chargé d’affaires of the Mission of Canada to the EU, will then have an armchair discussion on the benefits and opportunities offered by the agreement for companies from Canada and the EU in the present and post COVID economic recovery context. The discussion will conclude with a short presentation by Invest in Canada targeted at European companies.

This webinar marks the beginning of the series of online events organised by EUCCAN, with a specific focus on Canadian provinces.
