The project aims at amplifying the Disable Peoples' Organization (DPOs)’s voices and to increase their participation and representation in the local governance and development. This will allow People with Disabilities to have increased access to local resources and services. DPOs networks and CSOs will activate the Disability Rights and Protection Committees at Upazilla and District level. Local Government Institutions (Union Parisad) will also allocate budget and form a new standing committee to deal with disability issues. |

Overall: Social, political and economic empowerment of women and men with disabilities in predominantly disaster prone areas in Bangladesh. Specific: Enhanced capacity of civil society organisations (CSOs) and disabled people’s organisations (DPOs) to influence government policy and practices for increased representation and participation of persons with disabilities (PWD) in local governance and development Expected outcomes:

4,500 PWD members of 30 DPOs, 3 district federations and 2 national networks of DPOs (co-applicants); 18,000 family members; 6 CSOs/NGOs working in the target communities; 30 local government institutions (LGI)/standing committees and 15 disability rights committees (including 6 existing ones and 9 to be created); government policy-makers (ministries) and departments; the media. |

A total of 15,000 women and men with disabilities, with a focus on those left behind and the indigenous community, members of two national networks of DPOs, and their 60,000 family members in the 3 target districts |
