The laureates will participate in a week-long study tour of European Union institutions in Brussels in October 2019. Prior to the trip, winners will be invited to an awards ceremony co-hosted by the Honourable George J. Furey, Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Peteris Ustubs, Ambassador of the European Union to Canada, and the CAJ on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

The winners are:

• Ted Fraser (Halifax, Nova Scotia) for his opinion piece In leaving Europe, the U.K. has lost Scotland
• Philippe Teisceira-Lessard (Montreal, Quebec) for his story Le Brexit dans le champ
• Zak Vescera (Vancouver, British Columbia) for his analysis piece
