EU Film Festival returns for another season of contemporary European cinema in Canada

The European Union Film Festival season officially opened on 15 November with the screening of Austrian award-winning film "Mademoiselle Paradis" at the newly-built Ottawa Art Gallery. This year’s edition features 27 films, 27 unique stories from 27 European Union Member States and appeals to every cinematic taste through a wide collection of award-winning films – everything from drama and comedy to tragedy, romance and adventure, a roller-coaster of emotions.

In his opening remarks, European Union Ambassador Peteris Ustubs thanked the Embassies of EU Member States, the Canadian Film Institute and fans for their continued support and contributions to the success of the EU Film Festival in Canada.  The EU Film Festival has become an unparalleled tradition of contemporary European cinema in Ottawa and beyond.

The Ottawa edition of the EUFF takes place between 16 November and 2 December. The Vancouver edition, organized in collaboration with The Cinematheque, gets underway on 23 November and runs through 6 December.
