Celebrating 10 years of European Christmas carols in Ottawa
12/12/2017 - 23:11
The Christmas holiday season was off to a festive start on 8 December as hundreds of music lovers packed the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica for a chance to enjoy Christmas songs and carols from across the European Union.
The 10th annual European Union Christmas Concert featured songs from all 28 EU Member States, performed by Ottawa-area school choirs, including Nepean High School Chamber Choir, Chorale Lyrica, Hypatia’s Voice Women’s Choir and Incognito Choir. Special guest performances were given by mezzo-soprano and EU Delegation colleague Samantha Ammoun and mezzo-soprano Pauline van der Roest.
Organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the Diplomatic Missions of EU Member States, in coloration with local school choirs and the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, EU Christmas Concert has become a remarkable, highly-anticipated winter tradition in the National Capital Region.
The concert was broadcasted live. You can watch it here. It will also air on Roger TV 22/Ottawa on 22 December at 7 p.m. and on 24 December at 2 p.m.
