Statement of the spokesperson on the kidnapping of pupils in the North-West region of Cameroon

06.11.2018
Text

The kidnapping of pupils and staff of a school in Bamenda constitutes a further increase of tension in the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon. Innocent children are made victims of a conflict for which they are in no way responsible. The European Union calls for them to be freed immediately and without conditions, and expresses its solidarity with the families of the kidnap victims.

We expect all parties to engage in a constructive and inclusive dialogue in order to find a solution to the ongoing crisis in the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon.
