Today, an estimated 152 million children are victims of child labour worldwide. These 152 million children are being denied their right to have access to education and to a safe living environment. On the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour on 12 June, the European Union, alongside its international partners, reiterates its strong commitment towards guaranteeing the fundamental human rights of every child, as defined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development target to end child labour in all its forms by 2025.


On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we pay tribute to the essential role of cultural diversity in Europe and around the world for fostering dialogue, respect, and contributing to sustainable development and growth. Europe is a continent of cultural diversity. Our societies, institutions and laws are the outcome of centuries of exchanges of ideas, values, traditions and memories.

On the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, the European Union reiterates its unswerving commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) persons.

Phnom Penh, 10 May 2019 – On the occasion of the Europe Day 9 May 2019, the EU Ambassador, H.E. George Edgar together with the Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch, and the Acting Minister of Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce, H.E. Kem Sithan, presented the official European Union GI registration certificate of Skor Thnot Kampong Speu to Mr. Som Saroeun, President of the Kampong Speu Palm Sugar Promotion Association.
