Title

Collective Responsibility, Action and Accountability for Improved Nutrition (CRAAIN)

The project focuses on a system strengthening approach by improving capacity of communities (output 1), private sector (output 2), Government (output 3) and civil society (output 4) to improve access and up-take of quality nutrition services for women and children in the project area. One distinctive feature of the project is that the outputs, 1 and 4 trigger the ‘demand side’ of nutrition governance from communities and civil society while output 2 and 3 catalyse the ‘supply side’ of governance.

Objectives

Outcome (Specific Objectives) and Outputs (Expected results)

The project focuses on nutrition governance to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition and to improve maternal and child nutrition in Bangladesh. The objective is to enhance capacity, coordination, responsiveness and accountability of Government, Private Sector, Civil Society and Communities to deliver quality nutrition services.

Expected results

Output 1: Improved nutritional and WASH knowledge and practices among all households with a particular focus on the most vulnerable and extreme poor.

Output 2: Stimulated private sector to generate nutrition sensitive market based solutions focusing on food diversity and WASH.

Output 3: Strengthened capacity, multi-sectoral coordination, responsiveness and accountability of selected government departments and local institutions at District and Upazila level to align services and enhance access to and delivery of quality nutrition service

Output 4: Strengthened civil society organizations engaging with government, private sector and local media to increase demand for and monitoring of efforts addressing nutrition issues, including stunting of U5 children.

Pregnant & lactating women; Adolescent girls; Women of reproductive age 15-49 years; Adult men and Boys; Elderly people, over 65 years; People with disability; Ethnic Minority; Extreme Poor Households; Children under 5

Final beneficiaries

Final beneficiaries will be 482,820 people among the target groups
