The contest is open to all Cambodian higher education students aged between 18 and 26 years.  Students interested in taking part in this year essay contest can choose one of the three different topics below and submit their paper no later than 30th October 2016:

  • Should ASEAN be like the EU?
  • Why does Nature matter?
  • What can young people do to shape the future?

Golden prizes with an equivalent value of $300 will be offered to the winner of each of the three topics, while motivational prizes with an equivalent value of $200 will be offered to the second and third place contestants of each of the three topics.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the EU Delegation to Cambodia, Mr. Alain Vandersmissen underlined that the three topics chosen for the contest will allow the students to elaborate on the meaning of "United in Diversity" and "One Vision, One Identity, One Community", as well as on why a strong economic growth needs to be both inclusive and green.  "Last but not least the contest will make the European and Cambodian public and leaders aware of the perspective of Cambodian young people, eventually using the most original thoughts to shape future policies," added Mr. Vandersmissen.
