The virtual event, organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Defence, with the Pandiá Calógeras institute (IPC), in partnership with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the European Union Delegation to Brazil, the Belgium Embassy, the French Embassy, the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany) and the Egmont - Royal Institute for International Relations (Belgium), will occur on the 9 and 10 November 2020.
Since its first edition, in 2015, the Symposium constitutes a permanent space for dialogue between Europe and South America in matters of Defence and Security, with an emphasis on possibilities and perspectives for mutual cooperation. The event allows to bring together senior government officials, diplomats, military personnel, journalists, researchers, professors and European and South American university students on fundamental issues for the safeguarding of the international order, as well as for the strengthening of peaceful and beneficial bonds between Europe and South America.
This year three panels will be organized:
PANEL 1 - Geopolitical Landscapes for the next decade and their impacts on Defense
PANEL 2 - South Atlantic Security Cooperation - The case of the Gulf of Guinea and ZOPACAS
PANEL 3 - 20 years of UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS)
The language used during the event will be: Portuguese, English, French and Spanish with simultaneous translation.
Due to the limitations imposed by the present sanitary context of the pandemic COVID-19, the edition of the event this year will have a virtual format.
