Europe Readr in the UK: Read, Listen, Connect

04.08.2021

This autumn, the EU Delegation to the UK will host a bookshelf with the Europe Readr collection, in collaboration with the Institut français UK, Goethe-Institut London and Instituto Cervantes London. Europe Readr, a project by the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of Europe, presents a curated set of European literary works, in addition to special events – all freely available from 1 July to 31 December 2021.

The collection contains one work from each EU Member State in the original language and its translation in English. The youngest readers can enjoy a picture books collection. All works are available, in their entirety, to read freely online, or come and browse the collection at the EU Delegation in London.

Europe Readr aims to foster reading culture and critical thinking across societies about the future of living and to support the creation of public spaces for exchange and debate on shared European values, on the European Green Deal, on sustainability and on urbanism through a curated programme of activities.

The project is led by the Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council and implemented in partnership with the Network of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), EU Member States and EU institutions. In Great Britain, EUNIC London will organise a series of activities under the title FutureLab: Read, Listen, Connect. Beside the above mentioned Europe Readr bookshelves, these activities will also include a series of podcasts with European authors produced in partnership with European Literature Network as well as a series of round tables with European experts exploring questions related to the future of living in the post-pandemic era as part of the Bristol Festival of Future City.
