Commission for Security Union Julian King held interesting and constructive meetings with many New Zealand counterparts. The European Union is a strong supporter and key participant at the Christchurch Call, which was a prompt for the Commissioner to come to New Zealand.
Commissioner King met with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Justice and Intelligence Minister Andrew Little, Minister of Police Stuart Nash, Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media, Kris Faafoi, and with Simon Bridges, Leader of the Opposition as well as members of the intelligence community.
Topics discussed were counter-terrorism (including online terrorist content), international organised crime, cybercrime, disinformation and digital strategic autonomy. Both sides expressed satisfaction that the visit took place. Commissioner King visited New Zealand 26-27 June.
