eXpressions!  Photography and Art Competition

OFFICIAL RULES

INTRODUCTION

The EU Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago in partnership with the Photographers Guild of Trinidad and Tobago presents:  'eXpressions! Photography and Art Competition'.     This competition is in keeping with the EU's objective to put cultural cooperation at the heart of relations with countries around the world.  In particular, through art and photography the EU seeking to promote intercultural dialogue and as well build understanding between societies.

The 2019 competition focuses on two key thematic areas:  Child Rights and Environment and Climate Change

  1. Child Rights:  This year, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child celebrates 30 years since its ratification.  This Convention holds the unique position of being the only UN treaty to be ratified by every single country in the world, and yet as we know, children continue to be exploited and abused and for too many, childhood is cut short by the challenges of life. Through this competition, the youth of this nation will be encouraged to celebrate childhood though a reflection on key articles of the Convention and their representation of children's  rights in photos and art.
  1. Environment and Climate Change: Environmental challenges are global in nature.  For good or ill, activities undertaken in one part of the world have a serious impact on other areas.  Solving the world's environmental ills therefore requires everyone to play their part; to be aware of the challenge and to come up with innovative solutions.  Professional and amateur artists and photographers will be invited to share their views and as well their vision of/for Trinidad and Tobago through a reflection on the environmental challenges we face.
