Accusations and threats against judges from the Superior Electoral Tribunal are not conducive to fair and balanced conditions in view of the upcoming elections in Bolivia.

Respect for the independence of the judiciary, political pluralism and freedom of expression are fundamental rights and essential pillars of democracy and the rule of law.

The EU remains firmly committed to its partnership with Bolivia through political dialogue and cooperation, and will continue supporting its efforts in the area of justice reform and strengthening the rule of law.
