Ambassador Meglena Kuneva, Head of EU Delegation and Dr. Nina Nordström, Ambassador of Finland, opened the event while Ms. Vera Jourová, Commissioner on Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, delievered the keynote address via video message. This was followed by two successive panels. The first one focused on legal issues raised in opinion 2/13 and ways forward. The respective speakers were Dr Allan Rosas (Judge (ret), European Court of Justice), Dr Jörg Polakiewicz, (Legal Adviser of the Council of Europe), Dr Hannes Krämer (Legal Adviser at the European Commission) and Mr Francois Alabrune (Director of Legal Affairs of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The second panel discussed the implications of the accession: benefits to the individual and Europe as a whole. It was moderated by Ms Marja Ruotanen (Director, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europ) and the speakers were Mr Titus Corlăţean (Vice-President of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) and Mr Christos Giakoumopoulos, (Director General at the Council of Europe). Mr. Jean-Baptiste Mattei, Ambassador of France, delivered the concluding remarks.
