The Delegation of the European Union to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean States, The OECS and CARICOM/CARIFORUM recently provided 72 solar robotic kits to the Ministry of Education in Barbados as part of support to the government, as Barbados transitions to 100 percent renewables by 2030. The kits, which will de distributed to secondary schools across the island, will help expose students to solar energy and solar powered systems, while fostering the potential of unleashing their creativity.

The provision of the kits were part of an overall Budget Support Programme of BBD$6.75 million earmarkered for Energy Sector Development, focussing on energy secuirty and resilience building in the energy sector. The assistance also supported the implementation of the Barbados National Energy Policy. In addition, the European Union continues to support Barbados' efforts at ensuring that the private sector gets engaged in power generation through renewable energy (RE) technologies, and that consumers increasingly use energy efficiency measures and technology.
