Ahead of the 14th European Remembrance Day for Victims of Terrorism on 11 March 2018, First Vice-President Frans Timmermans, High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini, Commissioners Dimitris Avramopoulos, Vera Jourová and Julian King have issued the following statement:
The EU will continue to lead the work of the donor community for the Rohingya refugees because we believe that human dignity and peoples’ lives have to be protected, said Mogherini.
The EU today co-hosted with Kuwait in Geneva an international fundraising event for Rohingya refugees displaced from Myanmar to Bangladesh. The EU pledged an additional €30 million in aid, bringing the total EU support for Rohingyas this year to €51 million.
EU High Representative Mogherini on 14 September reiterated the EU's position that the violence in Myanmar, which is causing a flood of Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh, is unacceptable. Mogherini called on the Myanmar leadership to show that democracy is for all beyond ethnic, social and
