The main goal is to raise public awareness of the EU activities and their impact on the daily lives of people in Azerbaijan.  

The stories have to reflect the following aspects of EU-Azerbaijan cooperation:

A. EU-Azerbaijan developments in four Partnership priorities (1. economic development and market opportunities, 2. strengthening institutions and good governance, 3. connectivity, energy efficiency, environment and climate change, 4. mobility and people to people contacts).

B. Impact of projects in covered priority areas.

Each applicant can submit only one entry to only one of the following Prize Categories:

A. Best story in printed or online media;

B. Best feature story on TV;

C. Best feature story on Radio;

D. Best online or print blog, opinion or column;

E. Best documentary photo reflecting EU project.

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

• adherence to facts;
• depth of reporting;
• focus;
• fairness and balance;
• creativity and style;
• impact;

The stories have to explain to the general audience the essence of project in plain language and in readable style, to show the results of the project and its’ impact to the life of ordinary people. 

The Jury will be composed of Azerbaijani media professionals, and will act in an advisory function. The opinions of the jury will be submitted to the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, who will take them into account when deciding on the winners.  These decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Submission rules:

• The deadline for entries is April 23, 2021.
• Entries must have been originally published/ broadcast/ posted between 18 February and 18 April inclusive;
• Entries must be in Azerbaijani, English or Russian languages.
• Citizens of Azerbaijan or international journalists accredited in Azerbaijan are eligible to participate. 
• Team entries will be accepted, team does not exceed three (3) members. In case of winning, a whole team will receive one award. 
• The links to the published/broadcast/posted materials should be sent with the subject “Press Contest” to the email address: DELEGATION-AZERBAIJAN@eeas.europa.eu

Award decision

• The winners in each of five categories will receive a gift card of 500 AZN.
• All participants of the contest will get a certificate and EU branded presents.
• The award decisions will be announced in May. All participants of the contest will be informed accordingly.
