EU Delegation to Australia Hosts Model EU Simulation in Canberra

In partnership with the Embassies of France, Sweden, Belgium, Slovenia and Spain, the Delegation supported the students as they prepared to step into the shoes of EU ministers and negotiate digital policy at Council level.
EU Ambassador HE Mr Gabriele Visentin welcomed the students in the Lisbon Room, introducing them to the growing EU–Australia relationship and presenting certificates to recognise their commitment to learning more about the European Union.
The day also featured a lively careers panel, where Team Europe diplomats: HE Mr Klas Molin (Ambassador of Sweden to Australia and New Zealand), Mrs Anna Cherner-Drieux (Embassy of France), Mr Ignacio Boloix Peiro (Embassy of Spain), and Mr Ryan Hemingway (EU Delegation), shared their experiences and practical insights into diplomatic work.
Ahead of the negotiations, the Embassy of France hosted a special mentoring session bringing together European diplomats and experts from Belgium, France, Germany, and Poland to answer students’ questions on digital affairs, trade, and the EU legislative process.
We would like to thank the ANU International Relations Society for their initiative, hard work and dedication, which reflects the strong and growing interest in the European Union among young Australians. We look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
