EU Climate Action Director-General Visits Australia

During his visit, Mr. Vandenberghe engaged with government officials, industry leaders, and academics in Canberra and Melbourne.
Discussions covered the EU’s latest climate policies, including the expanded Emissions Trading System (ETS2), the Clean Industrial Deal, stricter vehicle standards, and the electrification of households and industries.
In Canberra, Director-General:

Attended the EU-Australia High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change, focusing on key policy developments and areas for enhanced cooperation;

Participated in the Climate Security and Climate Policy Roundtable by the ANU National Security College;

Met with Australian counterparts from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water to discuss shared challenges and opportunities;

Engaged with EU Heads of Missions on climate policy priorities.
In Melbourne, Mr. Vandenberghe:

Joined Monash University’s Climate Leaders Roundtable to discuss global and regional climate strategies;

Delivered an address at the European Australian Business Council (EABC) Boardroom Lunch with industry leaders.
The EU, with its ambitious climate targets, remains a steadfast global leader in the green transition. As part of this commitment, the EU continues to work closely with like-minded partners like Australia to drive progress on global climate action.
