Dutch Film Day - Melbourne - April 22 from 1.30pm

28/03/2018 - 01:58

The Erasmus Foundation in Melbourne will be showcasing two Dutch movies at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in April.

The Dutch Film Day is fast approaching and for the first time, we will be screening two Dutch feature films both based on true stories.

Accused (Lucia de B.) is the story of a Dutch nurse who was sentenced to life in prison, but eventually was released. It is the greatest miscarriage of justice in Dutch history.

A Real Vermeer (Een Echte Vermeer), is about the life of Dutch painter Han van Meegeren. From his beginnings as a rebellious young artist in 1920s Amsterdam and later in Delft, to his rise to infamy as one of the most ingenious art forgers of all time.

Both films have won prizes: Accused for best film, acting, editing and director awards at the Milano International Film Festival 2016 and A Real Vermeer won the "Silver Remi Award" at the WorldFest Houston 2017.
