The EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy, published last June, sets out the EU's core interests and principles for engaging in the world. It explains what the EU stands for and hopes to achieve in the world in the years to come.
Dr Nathalie Tocci special adviser to EU HR/VP Federica Mogherini, will be talking about the document in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney. She will also participate in a variety of round table events and give a number of presentations.
EU Ambassador to Australia, Sem Fabrizi, said Ms Tocci's tour was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the EU's diplomatic priorities.
"In challenging times, a strong Union is one that thinks strategically, shares a vision and acts together, our wider region has become more unstable and more insecure ", Ambassador Fabrizi said.
"The Global Strategy therefore calls for deeper cooperation with our natural partners in the world including Australia, to help address, amongst other issues, security challenges in Asia.
