Technical Assistance Facility to the Green Team Europe Initiative (TAF-GTEI)

Project Description:
The Technical Assistance Facility to the Green Team Europe Initiative (TAF-GTEI) is a regional initiative funded by the European Union through its Global Europe: Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI). It is one of the main components of the broader Green Team Europe Initiative in Partnership with ASEAN. TAF-GTEI aims to enhance the EU-ASEAN partnership and reduce negative environmental impacts, as well as climate-related disaster risks.
Thematic Areas
To deliver results, TAF-GTEI offers various forms of support, such as technical assistance, capacity development, and opportunities for dialogue and peer learning in the following areas:
Outcome 1 – Climate Change

Cooperation with and within ASEAN for developing and implementing ambitious climate policies is improved
-
Cooperation with and within ASEAN for climate-resilient economic development and a more sustainable regional economic integration is enhanced
Activities:

Enhancing EU-ASEAN collaboration on Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Biennial Transparency Report (BTR)
-
Enhancing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) to increase productivity and resilience to climate change, natural disasters, and other vulnerabilities

Enhancing EU-ASEAN collaboration to support the creation of a Long-Term Master Plan and Roadmap to implement the ASEAN Climate Vision 2050

Promoting digital solutions for environmental protection and awareness

Boosting the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) implementation and capacities of AMS
-
Supporting the ASEAN Centre for Excellence (CoE) on Green Transition
Outcome 2 – Natural Resources

The equitable and sustainable management of regional natural resources and landscapes is made more effective

The equitable and sustainable management of renewable natural resources and ecosystem services in ASEAN is made more effective
Activities:

Knowledge exchange on nature conservation and biodiversity

Supporting knowledge development and adoption of approaches to advance ecosystems services

Advancing sustainable forest management and promoting nature-based solutions to support economic growth

Promoting sustainable fisheries and responsible sourcing
Outcome 3 – Sustainable Food Systems
The transition towards sustainable and climate resilient food systems in ASEAN is promoted
Activities:

Supporting ASEAN sustainable food systems regulatory bodies

Supporting agricultural and fisheries communities and enterprises in ASEAN Member States to meet food safety and sustainability standards and access markets

Supporting innovative sustainable agricultural practices and the implementation of ASEAN guidelines and action plan sustainable agriculture

Improving public awareness in ASEAN about sustainable and affordable food production, food waste and nutrition
Outcome 4 – Clean Energy
The transition towards clean energy and greater energy efficiency is accelerated
Activities:

Capacity building and support in the implementation of energy transition roadmaps
