EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package (SCOPE) Ship Safety

Overall and specific objectives

The overall objective of the project is to enhance transport connectivity and technical cooperation between the EU and ASEAN as well as within ASEAN, with a focus on safety, digital solutions where relevant, and on social and environmental sustainability.

The specific objective of the project is to improve knowledge and capacities for passenger ship safety in a selected number of ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and in the wider ASEAN region.

Main expected results

Output 1: Comprehensive assessment of domestic ferry safety and identification of viable improvement options in the target countries

Output 2: Fostering commitment to passenger ship safety measures through collaborative multi-level stakeholder engagement and consensus building

Output 3: Strengthening stakeholder capacities for implementing and managing passenger ship safety initiatives
