You hear the word “disability”. What do you first think of? Some of us may immediately picture a wheelchair. But visible or invisible, born with or developed later in life, many of us know that disability goes beyond mobility and spans over a wide spectrum: visual, hearing, cognitive, motor, chronic illnesses and more. Disability is part of the human experience.

On the Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare, the EU commemorates those who have died and suffered from these atrocious weapons and condemns in the strongest terms the use of chemical weapons by anyone, whether a State or non-State actor, anywhere, at any time and under any circumstances, as a violation of international law

Ahead of World Children's Day on 20 November, the European Commission and the High Representative made the following statement:

The EU is deeply concerned over the recent violence along the Armenia-Azerbaijani border, which has regrettably led to loss of life.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, discussed the evolving situation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, over the phone and called for urgent de-escalation and full respect of the ceasefire.


EU and Armenia relations are based on the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which fully entered into force on 1 March 2021. Armenia is committed to pursuing a comprehensive reform agenda based on democracy, transparency, and rule of law – in particular the fight against corruption, reforming the judiciary and enhancing its accountability to citizens, and ensuring equal economic, employment and social opportunities for all.

This week marks the first anniversary of the cessation of hostilities in and around Nagorno Karabakh following the ceasefire agreement signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan.
