In 2018, the European Commission launched the programme “Local Authorities: Partnerships for sustainable cities” for a total amount of 164,7 million euros.
The first call for proposals (November 2018) resulted in the signature of 16 projects worth 53 million euros. In February 2020, the second call covering all remaining funds, i.e. over 111 million euros, was launched. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the following lockdown of many local public administrations, only 26 propositions were selected for a total budget of 71,1 million euros.
In March 2021, the third call for proposals with the remaining funds (almost 40 million euros) has been launched. More information including the application form is available on the EuropeAid website. Honduras, as well as other Central American countries, is eligible to participate in this programme. Proposals are accepted until 23 April 2021.
