Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to Guatemala manages a vast cooperation programme, maintains substantial political dialogue Guatemala's institutions, business and civil society and contributes to the mutual understanding and the deepening of the bilateral relations between Guatemala and the EU.
We offer

We offer a post of Accounts clerk (local agent Group III). Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Accounts clerk – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation.

Under this job function the successful candidate, under the supervision and responsibility of Head of Administration will serve as technical and support staff to:

  • -  Follow-up of the financial transactions (commitments, payments, recovery orders, invoices, etc.)

  • -  Assist to the management of accounts and implementation of the related operations.

  • -  Ensure that a full file is maintained on the operation, including all the documents necessary to justify

    each financial transaction.

  • -  Execute accounting transactions and reconcile outstanding transactions.

  • -  Treasury management (checks, transfers, etc.) and supervision of the execution of payments through

    bank statements and reconcile bank accounts.

  • -  Ensure timely closure of the accounts

    The place of work is in the Delegation of the European Union in Guatemala. This is an indefinite contract with a period of two months of probation. Selection Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Secondary school diploma in accounting.

  2. Professional experience of at least three years in the fields of accounting, budget and finance.

  3. Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications.

  4. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.

  5. Intermediate English language skills (understanding, reading, speaking and writing) equivalent to B1

    level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), attested

    by a certificate.

  6. Computer skills, particularly Windows, MS-Office, Outlook.

  7. Medically fit to perform the required duties.

  8. Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law.

  9. Proficient Spanish language skills (understanding, reading, speaking and writing) equivalent to C2

    level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The following will be considered an asset:

  1. At least three years of post-secondary studies in accounting attested by a certificate.

  2. Professional experience in an international organisation or embassy.

  3. Intermediate French language skills (understanding, reading, speaking and writing) equivalent to B1

    level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The procedure

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which will include an interview and a written test – during this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.

The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
