Romania was the Featured Country this year and in a nod to EU's commitment to inclusivity we kick-started EUFF in the presence of director Necula. The director who has cerebral palsy flew in from Bucharest to introduce his excellent directorial debut Beside Me.

27 films from 27 countries. The EUFF's 29th edition celebrated an inclusive, multi-faceted Europe through the compelling narrative of cinema. This year saw several new programming elements including more post-show dialogues, conversations with film makers and directors, making the EUFF experience much more interactive. In addition, we have established a tradition of collaboration with a local film school offering emerging filmmakers the EUFF platform to showcase their first works. Partnering for the fifth time with Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Film and Media Studies, the EUFF presented short films by students and young filmmakers alongside the official selection.

The media attention and word-of-mouth EUFF has received has been exhaustive and extensive. Beyond showcasing European contemporary cinema as a form of art, the Festival has also played an important role in bringing more of Europe to Singapore and fostering a lively exchange of views and ideas. It is today another expression of the strong connections that exist between the EU and Singapore in so many areas.
