The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Republic of Namibia has taken note of scam messages related to the EU grants or the EU development assistance. The fake message posted on various social media platforms and sent via emails, is inviting the public to apply for financial assistance through the European Development Fund by forwarding their personal details, together with an Eight Digit Reference Number, to EuropeanUniondf@europe.com and other scam emails. This is purportedly to benefit from an “International Funding Grants for Small Business Development” projects.
The public is once again cautioned not to provide their details to such emails nor make any payments to access alleged funding, as they could lose their money to fraudsters and cybercriminals that may take advantage of unsuspecting individuals. Members of the public should be alert and protect themselves from becoming victims of opportunists.
Some Do’s & Don’ts to avoid Scams/Phishing
The EU will never ask you to send sensitive personal information via an email nor to pay any money prior to receiving grants!
