Executive Vice-President Timmermans travels to Albania to participate in International Tourism Forum and discuss the green transition

On Monday and Tuesday, 3-4 April, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans visits Albania to attend the International Tourism Forum and discuss with government representatives and stakeholders the progress made in the country on the green transition, including climate action, environmental protection and renewable energy.

On the first day, Executive Vice-President will have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama. He will also meet with Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, with the UN World Tourism Organisation Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili and have a roundtable discussion with environmental civil society organisations. In the evening, he will deliver a keynote speech at the International Tourism Forum “The Future of Environmental Sustainable Tourism in Albania (FESTA)”.

On Tuesday, Executive Vice-President Timmermans will speak with the Chair of the EU integration Committee of the Albanian Parliament, Jorida Tabaku. Afterwards, he will visit the “Dhosi Liperi” school in the city of Durrës, which is part of the EU funded programme ‘EU4Schools’ that focuses on accelerating the recovery process following the 2019 earthquake through school repairs and reconstruction. His visit will conclude with a tour of the EU-funded farm Bonum Agroturizem.
