For seven years the people of Syria have suffered a devastating war that left a staggering 13 million people – about 60% of the country’s pre-war population - in need of humanitarian assistance and protection. The EU and its Member States are lead providers of international aid to those affected by the Syria war: since 2011, more than €10.8 billion have been mobilized for humanitarian, stabilization and resilience assistance to Syrians inside the country and in neighbouring countries.
This exhibition highlights EU funded aid inside Syria as well as in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. It also tells the personal stories of Syrians receiving this aid, both inside Syria and in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. These are stories of survival, resilience and human determination to rebuild a life as normal as possible.
Keynote address by Christos Stylianides, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management
