Title

 National Information Platform for Nutrition in Bangladesh- NIPN

NIPN facilitates developing a functional nutrition information platform involving policy makers, policy support officials and multi-sectoral stakeholders in identifying nutrition policy questions, analysing them and producing evidence-based policy solutions or recommendations. This project is also strengthening capacities of the Government in building nutrition related database, imparting skills for statistical and econometric analysis & research and engaging government officials in translating results in the form of reports and policy briefs.

Objectives

Outcome (Specific Objectives) and Outputs (Expected results)

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of stunting in Bangladesh in alignment with the World Health Assembly 2025 targets.

The specific objective is to strengthen capacity to monitor progress towards undernutrition reduction and to direct funding to more cost-effective and evidence-based programs.  

Target group(s)

Statistics and Informatics Division (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics [BBS] and General Economics Division [GED]) of the Ministry of Planning; the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Institute of Public Health Nutrition [IPHN] and Bangladesh National Nutrition Council [BNNC]), and the Ministry of Food (Food Planning and Monitoring Unit [FPMU]). Another 13 ministries are also its associated as stakeholders along with development partners.
