EUCAP Sahel Mali

Bamako (Mali), 16 November 2017 - On 6 November 2017, the EUCAP Sahel Mali Head of Mission and the Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, awarded the certificates to the 21 participants of the three capacity building workshops in legislative drafting organized by EUCAP Sahel Mali in collaboration with the Secretariat General of the Government and the Ministry of Justice.

The objective of the third workshop, hosted within the Ministry of Justice, was to apply the knowledge acquired during the two first workshops on two practical cases regarding on the one hand the use of listening devices in judicial procedures, on the other hand criminal informants. This group work allowed the participants to use the legislative drafting tools to identify the problems to solve, the sought-after solution as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the different possible options.

During his closing speech, the Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, underlined the importance of the training given to the management level of the Ministries, the Secretariat General of the Government, the National Assembly, the University and the international organization who has to draft legislative and regulatory texts. He indicated that the Malian State is currently conducting several reforms. The legislative experts will allow Mali to undertake those reforms within the scope of national ownership.
