In Budapest, accompanied by the HUN MilRep, Maj.Gen. Gàbor Horvàth, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee had the chance to meet the Minister of Defence, H.E. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the State Secretary for Security Policy of the Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Péter Sztáray, the President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament, H.E. mr. Zsolt Németh, and the Hungarian Chief of Defence, Major General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi.
The discussions covered all current CSDP matters, but also the regional situation as well as the broader perspectives on European security and defence developments.
During the meetings, the Chairman stated his thankfulness for the Hungarian commitment and contribution to military CSDP Missions and Operations, and discussed about the Security scenario in the Eastern Region, paying particular attention to the Western Balkans. Expressing his concern over a worsening of the security situation after the pandemic, General Graziano underlined the urgency of improving EU defence initiatives.
