Members of the Maritime Sub-Working on Libya (MSWG) held their first meeting in Tunis on 12 April 2018. The Libyan National Team for Border Security Management (NTBSM), representatives of General Administration for Coastal Security (GACS) and the Libyan Coast Guard and Port Security (LCG), the Italian Ministry of Interior, FRONTEX, EUNAVFOR MED and EUBAM Libya established the MSWG to coordinate international assistance to Libya’s maritime sector. The Maritime Sub-Working Group falls under the larger Border Management Working Group, which is co-chaired by EUBAM Libya and the Libyan National Team for Border Security Management, is meant to fine tune the coordination between Libyan maritime stakeholders, particularly in the law enforcement aspects. The next meeting will be held in Tunis just after Ramadan, and will discuss the Group’s plans for the short, medium and long term. Consequent meetings of the Group thereafter will take place in Tripoli.
