EUAM Iraq welcomes the first expert from a third country (non-EU member state) to join the Mission. On 4 June, a senior SSR expert from Australia arrived in Baghdad to contribute to the Mission’s mandate with his competences and expertise in the field of SSR coordination.

The deployment, which is covered by a crisis management agreement between Australia and the EU, continues the strong dialogue and cooperation between the EU and non-EU Member States willing to contribute to CSDP missions.

Thanking the Australian Government for the support, the Mission wishes the new colleague the very best for a successful and rewarding experience in Baghdad, working together for the common goal of a more stable and prosperous Iraq.
