Senior Strategic Advisors from the European Union Advisory Mission in support of the security sector in Iraq team visited Anbar on Monday 22nd January and met with Anbar Police Command at the Habaniya Base along with other key officials in the province This comes second after the first visit by our Head of Mission, the first visit aimed to initiate cooperation to pave the way for future visits on the working level.
The EUAM Iraq team enjoyed hearing and learning about local policing, planning, crime management and investigation and how the area was recovering following the defeat of Daesh and the liberation of the area. What the EUAM team learned was of great assistance to them in their advising activity within the Ministry of Interior. One of our Senior Strategic Adviser stated that he really appreciated the meeting with fellow senior police officers leading police activity in Anbar. The event provided EUAM advisers with a better understanding of local policing and the challenges which are being overcome at the local level.
Further trips to this police command are being planned so EUAM can learn about other aspects of policing such as training and intelligence.
