Venezuela conference

The European Union, together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration, will co-host the International solidarity conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis on 28-29 October in Brussels.

It is estimated that, so far, approximately 4.5 million Venezuelans have fled as a result of the political turmoil, socio-economic instability and humanitarian crisis in their country.

La Unión Europea coorganizará con el Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR) y la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones la Conferencia Internacional de Solidaridad sobre la Crisis de los Refugiados y Emigrantes Venezolanos los días 28 y 29 de octubre en Bruselas.

Se calcula que, hasta la fecha, aproximadamente 4,5 millones de venezolanos han huido de su país como consecuencia de las turbulencias políticas, la inestabilidad socioeconómica y la crisis humanitaria.

 

"The Venezuelan crisis and its humanitarian impact need to go back on top of the international agenda. I believe that the conference has been a success in this respect", said EU High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini following the two-day International Solidarity Conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis held in Brussels on 28-29 October.

On 28 October in Brussels, EU High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini officially opened, together with Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and António Vitorino, Director General of IOM, the two-day International Solidarity Conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis.

"We are here to mobilise and to join forces globally on one of the most dramatic crises of our times“, Mogherini said to the 4.5 million Venezuelans who are in need and are calling for the international community to support and to help.
